FROM CAR TO LORRY - WITHOUT SWITCHING SCHOOLS
SSDC trains and tests Class 4 & 5 heavy vehicles on the same multi-storey Intelligent Driving Circuit where you learn to drive and ride. Heavy-vehicle practical training runs in partnership with Pan Country Driving Centre (PCDC), co-located within the SSDC Woodlands building since 2010.

Four Heavy Vehicle Courses
Heavy Vehicles
Heavy Vehicle Class 4 & 5
For driving lorries and other heavy vehicles. Class 4 requires Class 3/3A; Class 5 requires Class 4.
Heavy Vehicles
Proficiency Driving Course
Competency course for Class 4 & 5 drivers aged 65 to 69 years.
Heavy Vehicles
Enhanced Proficiency Driving Course
Enhanced competency course for Class 4 & 5 drivers aged 70 and above.
Heavy Vehicles
Class 3C / 3CA Road Assessment
Road assessment for Class 3C and 3CA licence holders.
THE PATHWAY
How You Get To Class 4 & 5
Hold Class 3 / 3A
You need a Qualified Class 3/3A driving licence before enrolling for Class 4.
Apply PDL & enrol for Class 4
Apply the Provisional Driving Licence for Class 4 Auto (C4P), then enrol. Theory lesson is compulsory and booked at enrolment.
Train & test on the IDC
100-minute practical lessons booked at the counter. Select SSDC or PCDC for practical slots. Peak-hour surcharge applies on some sessions.
Progress to Class 5
Once you hold Class 4, apply the Class 5 PDL and enrol for Class 5 to drive the heaviest vehicles.
